Mini Book Bag

How to make your own Mini Book Bag…

Materials

  • 1 sheet of 12” x 12” Simply Handmade embossed paper
  • 1 strip of 12” x 12” Simply Handmade embossed paper of another color
  • 2 pcs. of 2” x 2” Simply Handmade embossed paper (same as your strip)
  • 6 pcs. Brads (1/2 inch long prongs)
  • 2 pcs. Coco buckles
  • 39” of Ribbon

  1. Cut along the outline of the handbag template.
  2. Punch 4 holes; 2 on each sides of the rib of the handbag. Punch the outer holes 5 cm from the edge then punch the inner holes 20 cm from the first two holes.
  3. Open the handbag template (making the length longer than the height of the template) and lay the 24 inches of ribbon horizontally in the middle. Be sure to keep the ribbon longer (14 inches) on the left side than on the right side (10 inches). When you’ve laid it down; attach the coco buckle on the ribbon on the left side and place the end of the ribbon as far as it reaches to the center. Glue the ribbon to secure its place.
  4. Attach the 12x2 strip of paper in the same direction of the ribbon on the outer cover of the handbag to serve as the strap of the lock and attach brads on both sides to hold it in place.
  5. Now keeping the template in place, layer the following in this sequence:
    • 15 inches of ribbon; placed at the rib of the handbag.
    • Scrapbook pages
  6. Insert the ribbon or stringed beads that will serve as your handle in between the prongs of the brads that will be placed in the inner set of circles. Place the prongs of the same brad through the layers of the handbag.
  7. Place the two ends of the ribbons on the rib of the handbag inside the scrapbook pages so that they will meet in the middle then secure them with a coco buckle to cover the prongs of the brads as well.
  8. Embellish the handbag scrapbook cover with any designs of your choice to make it more attuned to your taste.
